Otaru 1899

In the 1890s, a group of ambitious samurai relocated to Sapporo and embarked on the rapid development of Otaru.

Each player takes on the role of a regional samurai with the goal of further expanding their influence on Hokkaido. Through the development of Otaru, broaden your business scope and pursue prosperity and wealth for your clan. Contributing to education at the agricultural school is crucial for your efforts. Send your carefully trained disciples to Otaru Central Station and achieve industrial superiority in the region whilst expanding the transportation network. Additionally, land reclamation, cooperation from Sapporo Agricultural School graduates, and investment in buildings are indispensable for future success.

At the end of the game, the player with the most prestige points will become the head of the most influential clan in Hokkaido.

Otaru 1899 is an independent expansion set that can be optionally combined with Sapporo 1876 (sold separately). Some rule changes have been made for Otaru 1899. Additionally, although Otaru 1899 and Sapporo 1876 are both two-player games, you can combine both games and play with the Hokkaido Development History rules for 2 to 4 players. For this reason, the main board of "Otaru 1899" has one side for two-player use and the other side for 3-4 player use. It also includes some additional components that are not used for a two-player game.
